Meath too strong for Offaly in Ladies NFL

Meath cruised to an impressive 5-17 to 1-6 victory against Offaly in the Ladies NFL Div 3 today at Pairc Tailteann.

This was a first round game for Meath after last week's scheduled game against Sligo was postponed due to weather conditions.

This was a solid display with four of the goals arriving in the second-half, two in added time, with the others from Kelsey Nesbitt and a Stacey Grimes penalty (see video clip).

Meath dictated throughout and Stacey Grimes had her side in front from a third minute free after Offaly had squandred a couple of good chances.

The Odffaly women continued to waste opportunities with Meath goalkeeper Monica McGuirk making a couple of smart saves.

At the other end Meath added points from play through Kelsey Nesbitt, Emma White and Emma Duggan before Grimes sent over her second free.

When Shauna Ennis opened her account from play it gave Meath a 0-6 to 0-0 first-quarter advantage.

Offaly fared better for the remainder of the half as Mairead Daly converted three frees, but Meath remained in the ascendancy and doubled their points tally with a brace apiece from Vikki Wall and Grimes and one each by Duggan and Megan Thynne.

However, the highlighet of the half was a rocket to the Offaly net from Wall in the 30th minute that gave Meath a substantial 1-12 to 0-3 interval advantage.

Meath were in total control after the resumption although the influential Vikki Wall limped off in added time.
