League of Ireland - Meath focus
The opening night of the League of Ireland saw four Meath players in action with Skryne's James Finnerty making his debut for Bohemian FC in a 1-0 win against Finn Harps at Dalymount Park.
Greg Sloggett also featured for his new club Derry City as the Ulster men defeated UCD 3-0 at the Brandywell.
Kevin Toner was in the St Pat's defence as they opened their campaign at Richmond Park with a 1-0 win against Cork City.
Gary Rogers was between the posts for champions Dundalk as they opened with a 1-1 draw at Oriel Park against Sligo Rovers.
The other game last night was in Waterford where the hosts took the lead, but lost (1-2) to Shamrock Rovers.
Dundalk will be in action on Monday night at Oriel Park when they host First Division Athlone Town in the Leinster Senior Cup. Meath due Shane Dunne and Kealan Dillon will be in the Athlone team
