More thrills and spills on the way for Tayto Park with new €14m steel roller coaster

Ashbourne's Tayto Park has secured planning permission to build a €14 million steel roller  coaster.
Tayto Park are aiming to build the new attraction next year and for it to be open to the public by 2021. The theme park are hoping the new ride called “Coaster 21” will increase its visitors by 15% from 630,000 people in 2019 to 725,000 in 2021.

According to the Irish Times, Meath County Council has given approval for the project, attaching 26 conditions to its decision.
The roller coaster will be the same height as the park's existing roller coaster, the 32 m high Cu Chulainn, but it will be 400 m longer. It the new ride will create 40 new full and part time jobs.
A 189 page environmental report lodged with the the planning application outlines importance for "Coaster 21". It says that Tayto Park needs the new development because if it wasn't built the "the longer term viabilty of the park would be brought into question" because " there is a need to add new attractions every two to three years to maintain visitor numbers".
