Ladies Leinster MFC weekend round up
A 3-6 haul from Dunboyne’s Emma Duggan paved the way for Royal County victory in Sunday’s Ladies Leinster MFC Group A clash between Meath and Dublin at St Margaret's.
With the aid of a stiff wind, the Royals soared into a 2-8 to 0-2 half-time lead.
On the resumption, Dublin managed to reel in the opposition and reduced the deficit to four points with Dublin captain Jodi Egan finding the net.
But a third Duggan goal and a strong finish from the Royals gave them their first Minor win over the team from the Capital in some time.
Sarah Wall, Orlagh Lally and Duggan were all to the fore. The trio were all key members of the Leinster PPS squad that won the Shield at the recent Interprovincial competition.
In the second Group A fixture, last year’s All Ireland Minor B Champions Kildare enjoyed a big win over Offaly.
Gavin Doyle’s charges won 2-22 to 0-2 with Orlaith Sullivan the Lilywhites top scorer, hitting 1-6.
Hazel McLoughlin hit 1-3 while Angela Brady hit both scores for the Faithful County.
Next up for the Lilywhites is a visit from Dublin while Meath will tackle Offaly.
GROUP A RESULTS
Dublin 1-12, Meath 3-16
Kildare 2-22, Offaly 0-2
