LMETB patrons of new Dunshaughlin Primary School

The Louth and Meath Educational and Training Board has been appointed patrons for the new Dunshaughlin Primary School, due to open this coming September.
The appointment followed a process where parents had been invited to express their preference in relation to the patronage of the  school, using the Department of Education and Skills Online Patronage Process System.
Minister Regina Doherty welcomed the news;
“I am delighted to welcome another milestone in the development of this new school in Dunshaughlin, with the appointment of the Louth and Meath Educational and Training Board as patrons. I am particularly happy that local parents had the opportunity to make their views known and to help shape the future of education for their kids in Dunshaughlin.”

The Online Patronage Process System provided objective information to parents and guardians to allow them to make an informed choice in expressing a preference for a patronage model and language of instruction for their child’s education. 
This process informed the selection of the Louth and Meath Educational and Training Board as patron for the new school.
The patronage process for new schools is overseen by the independent New Schools Establishment Group (NSEG). This Group was set up in 2011 to advise on the patronage of new schools following its consideration of a report prepared by the Department of Education and Skills on the applications received.
The news follows recent revelation that the long awaited extension to Ratoath College is expected to be completed by next September.
Both secondary and primary school places in  Meath are at a premium and there are currently five schools in Meath catering for more than 1,000 pupils- four of them are in South Meath - Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne, Ratoath and Dunboyne. The other is in Laytown.
