Meath Focus on League of Ireland action
The story of the night has to be Athlone Town's first win in the League since May 2017 and Meath duo Kealan Dillon and Shane Dunne both featured prominently in the 4-2 win against Wexford.
Dillon scored Athlone's fourth goal against Wexford who collected an early red card as the Westmeath side made it two wins in five days following the Leinster Senior Cup win against Dundalk at Oriel Park last Monday night.
Next up for Athlone is the long journey to St Colman's Park in Cobh where they will tackle the Munster side on Saturday next..
An estimated 600 supporters turned up at United Park where kick-off was delayed by five minutes after Cobh arrived later than scheduled.
Howver, Timmy Clancy's Drogheda Utd-managed side made the best possible start with a 4-0 win over Cobh Ramblers who had the longest journey of the night.
Meath duo Luke McNally and Luke Heeney both featured for the Louth side who, along with Athlone, were the top scorers over the First Division and Premier
PREMIER
Ashbourne man Kevin Toner was at the heart of the St Patrick's Ath defence as the Inchicore side snatched an added-time winner against Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds (att 3,314) to go top of the table with two other Dublin clubs - Bohemian FC and Shamrock Rovers.
The Dalymount side had a shorter journey out to Belfield where they accounted for UCD with a 2-0 win and another outing at central defence for Skryne man James Finnerty.
Dundalk had another tough outing with the trip to Finn Harps where Gary Rogers was between the posts in a 1-1
draw. Dundalk hit a second-half equaliser.
There was no joy for Greg Sloggett and his Derry City colleagues as they finished with 10 men at Tallaght and lost
0-2.
