Navan shock for table-toppers Highfield
Navan could probably be described as playing yoyo rugby after yesterday surprise 17-12 victory against AIL Div 2A table-toppers Highfield at Balreask Old.
The previous weekend Navan slumped when they travelled to Belfast and lost to Queens by 19 points (7-26), significantly, Queens also defeated Highfield last October, the only team to manage that until yesterday's result from Balreask Old.
Yesterday's victory by Navan was a welcome boost for the Balreask Old club, but it certainly turned the formbook upside down.
Previously, Navan laboured to a 7-5 win against a Galwegians side that Highfield thumped 66-0 only last weekend.
And Highfield had 30 points to spare when they hosted Navan at their home ground Woodleigh Park in November as they blitzed the Meath men with three tries inside the opening 17 minutes for a comprehensive 40-10 victory.
However, in front of a big and apperciative crowd at Balreask Old yesterday Navan delivered a sparkling performance to secure what yet could be a priceless victory.
Navan also bounced back into the promotion push with an outside chance of a title challenge.
This was an excellent team display with James O'Neill (pictured beelow) collecting the Central-sponsored man-of-the-match award.

Each and every man gave 110% from start to finish and gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about.
It was an inspiring display from the lads which hopefully will put an end to the depression city blues bus journey coming home from our away games in the future.
