Drogheda shooting victim in critical condition
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to yesterday's shooting incident at the M1 Retail Park in Drogheda which has left a 40 year old man fighting for his life.
The victim is in a critical condition having been shot in the neck and the body. He underwent emergency surgery in hospital where he has armed Garda protection.
He has been named locally as Brendan Maguire, the older brother of Owen Maguire (35), who survived a murder attempt last July.
Gardaí in Drogheda are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the incident room at Drogheda Garda Station on 041- 9874200, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
Investigating Gardaí are particularly anxious to speak to anyone who was present in the M1 retail park between 12.30pm and 3.30pm and may have seen the cars mentioned.
Anyone who has mobile phone footage or dash cam footage and any person who was in the Seapoint car park between 3.30pm and 7.15pm is asked to get in contact.
The shooting took place in the car park of The M1 Retail Park, Mell, Drogheda at approximately 3.15 pm yesterday.
He was shot whilst sitting in the passenger seat of a white Vauxhall Astra, (12 LH registration).
The suspects in this incident are believed to have left the scene in a black Volkswagen Passat 132 D 18498, which was later found burnt out at the car park at Seapoint, Co Louth at 7.15 pm.
