Meath Sports Awards - JANUARY Gavin Kennedy
The Meath Chronicle Sportsperson of the Month award for January goes to Gavin Kennedy who captained Ashbourne to their third successive All-Ireland Junior Cup success.
Kennedy - who was also captain for the 2016 and 2017 triumphs - returned from long-term injury to take his place on the team and help Ashbourne to a 16-11 win over a fancied Enniscorthy side at Edenderry RFC, notching up 11 points of his team's final tally.
Ashbourne will be bidding for an unprecedented four-in-a-row after the achieved a top four finish in the Leinster League Div 1A at the weekend with a merited win against Kilkenny.
GAVIN KENNEDY IN ACTION FOR ASHBOURNE
The 13th Meath Sports Awards will be presented in January 2020 when one of the monthly winners will be selected as the overall Meath Sportsperson of the Year for 2019.
Last January racehorse trainer Gordon Elliott won the award for the second time, he also won the inaugural award in 2007.
This is the 13th year of the Meath Sports Awards by The Meath Chronicle.
