Beam me up, Van Gogh!
Red Alchemy Theatre Company is presenting a national tour of 'Vincent – A Play', a piece about the life of Vincent Van Gogh. This powerful, moving play was written and originally performed on Broadway by Leonard Nimoy (better known to audiences as Star Trek’s Mr Spock), for which he garnered a Tony Award.
In this Irish première, against the visual backdrop of over one hundred of his greatest masterpieces, director Christine Scarry and actor Peter McCamley gloriously recreate the world of the misunderstood genius, giving the audience a moving insight into the turbulent life and times of the great painter. Anyone who loves art, passion and life itself should see this play; it is a renewing experience and an insight into one of history’s most gifted, haunted masters.
After hugely successful performances in Kilkenny, Mullingar, Thurles, Wexford, Waterford and Portlaoise, audiences in Dublin finally have the opportunity to experience the glorious art and life of Van Gogh in Draíocht on Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019 – the last date of the current tour.
Based in Kilkenny, Red Alchemy Theatre Company was formed in 2010 by Dublin native, Christine Scarry. An unfunded, independent theatre company, it is dedicated to exploring provocative and challenging works by contemporary writers and composers, with special interest in niche ensemble pieces designed to showcase contemporary theatre and music theatre talent.
