Action from tonight's game in Ballinlough between St Ultan's and Moylagh

St Ultan's survive Moylagh test + CLARIFICATION

St Ultan's had to battle all the way to the final whistle to make a winning start to the JFC tonight at Ballinlough.

St Ultan's carved out a 1-10 to 1-8 victory against Moylagh in a hard-hitting contest that finished in a welter of excitement.

Moylagh had a chance of a late equaliser, but missed and St Ultan's countered with substitute Jamie Coogan sending over a vital point with the last kick of the game.

Moylagh were ahead by 0-5 to 0-4 at the interval and could have had more points on the scoreboard, but the finishing wasn't great.

Emmet Costello's goal got St ULtan's off to a flyer 30 seconds after the resumption, but Moylagh hit back with a Sean Reilly goal and the sides were level twice 1-6 each and 1-7 each as the outcome hung in the balance.

St Ultan's were worthy winners as they were a bit sharper than Moylagh and made better use of possession.

CLARIFICATION

No 22 for St Ultan's (scored the last point) was actually Gary Gorman - and not Jamie Coogan so apologies to both players

(Just the usual incident that happens when the player does not wear the number listed on the team sheet).
