O'Sullivan bags brace as Moynalvey cruise to victory
Billed as a crucial four-pointer in the race to avoid getting dragged into a SFC Group B relegation battle it was Moynalvey who took a giant early leap towards safety with a 3-12 to 0-9 victory over Rathkenny at Skryne this evening.
Two goals from Cillian O'Sullivan and one from the returning David McLoughlin ensured a comfortable evening for Moynalvey who dominated for the majority of the contest and were full value for their victory.
Rathkenny started well and lead by two points after seven minutes, but by the time they registered their next score 10 minutes later they were three points adrift and already looking like a beaten rocket.
Moynalvey continued to press and extended their advantage to 1-6 to 0-3 when O'Sullivan bagged his first goal, but Rathkenny did manage to create a couple of chances and closed the gap to 0-4 to 1-6 at half-time.
O'Sullivan’s second goal five minutes after the restart ended the game as a contest and when McLoughlin bagged the third five minutes from the end it confirmed an easy evening’s work for Moynalvey.
