Four men arrested in connection with retail park shooting
Gardaí investigating a shooting incident at the M1 retail park in Drogheda on 26th February last in which a 39-year-old man was left critically injured have this morning arrested four men (aged 23, 23, 27 & 49) in connection with this investigation. They are detained at Drogheda and Dundalk Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 50 – Criminal Justice Act 2007.
A number of premises were also searched in Drogheda this morning in connection with this investigation.
The victim was shot in the neck and the body and underwent emergency surgery in hospital where he was assigned armed Garda protection.
He was named locally as Brendan Maguire, the older brother of Owen Maguire (35), who survived a murder attempt last July.
He was shot whilst sitting in the passenger seat of a white Vauxhall Astra, (12 LH registration).
The suspects in this incident are believed to have left the scene in a black Volkswagen Passat 132 D 18498, which was later found burnt out at the car park at Seapoint, Co Louth at 7.15 pm.
