Meath GAA launch probe into lewd video shared to referees' WhatsApp group
Meath GAA have confirmed that they have launched an investigation into an inappropriate video that was shared to 108 referees and other officials through a popular messaging service.
One of the officials in the group is believed have posted a short video in which another man graphically tells a 'joke' which describes a lewd act . Many of the people in that group are believed to have taken great offence at the video.
In a statement released to the Meath Chronicle this afternoon Meath GAA confirmed they are aware of the WhatsApp message and they intend to investigate the incident in line with the new GAA Code of Conduct.
The Meath GAA statement read: "Meath GAA are aware of the incident. The Meath Management Committee will be investigating this promptly. No further comment at this time."
The official responsible for posting the video is believed to have apologised to the members of the WhatsApp group and admitted the video was posted in error.
There was a similar incident involving the same WhatsApp group last year when inappropriate images were posted. The person responsible for posting those messages was disciplined.
