Farnham goals inspires Gaeil Colmcille to comfortable victory
Two goals from Ryan Farnham ensured Gaeil Colmcille got into the early summer break with two SFC wins following this comfortable 2-14 to 1-10 victory over St Patrick's at Rathkenny this afternoon.
St Patrick's did threaten to make a game of it for almost 20 minutes and four times in the opening quarter the sides were level as the Stamullen men stayed in touch.
However a blistering seven minute spell before the break firmly turned the tie in Gaeil Colmcille's favour as Farnham palmed a loose ball to the net after Brian Hanlon had rattled the crossbar with a screamer to help the Kells men to a 1-8 to 0-5 interval lead.
St Patrick's threatened a recovery with the first two scores of the second period, but that was a false dawn as Farnham replied with his second goal to put the issue beyond reach.
Gaeil Colmcille controlled the remainder and despite conceding an injury-time penalty which was converted by Donal Landy they never looked in danger of slipping up.
