Red letter day for Ardcath on Sunday as Roscommon visit for pitch opening

Roscommon visit the Royal County on Sunday to take on Andy McEntee's men at the opening of St Vincent GAA club's facilities in Masterson Park, Ardcath.

With club SFC action completed until later in the summer,  Meath were expected to turn their attentions to preparations for the Leinster SFC opener against Offaly next month with a challenge match against Cavan in Denn on Monday, but an outbreak of mumps in the area forced the cancellation of that game.
This means Sunday's outing against Roscommon in Ardcath will be the last chance to see the team in action before they start the Leinster SFC campaign. 
That is far from ideal preparation for McEntee, but he can still be boosted by a strong league campaign that saw Meath gain promotion to Division 1 and play an extra game when they took on Donegal in an entertaining final that, despite defeat, offered more hope for the future.
Sunday's game against Roscommon at 3.30pm will give McEntee an opportunity to run the rule over a few players who put their hands up for inclusion during two hugely entertaining rounds of club championship and while the manager is likely to experiment he will also approach the game with one eye on the Offaly test in just over two weeks time.
After Sunday's game,  Meath will train as normal during the week before embarking on a training camp in Cork the following week where they will finalise their preparations ahead of the championship opener against John Maughan's Offaly in Pairc Tailteann on Sunday 12th May.
