Meade hoping to be Number 1 spot with catchy election song
Lobinstown county councillor, Paddy Meade has raised the bar for all local election candidates!
The Fine Gael councillor seems to be keeping his options open - preparing for a career in film and music if all doesn't go to plan in politics.
Candidates around the county can only watch and listen in awe to the 'Paddy Meade Song' written and performed by Alan Louth, which is doing the rounds on Facebook.
Will the posters and leaflets be left behind as candidates rush to recording studios to record their own election songs?
Cllr Meade's election launch took place at the Sally Gardens, Creewood, Slane - it launched Paddy's election campaign, the song and also marked Paddy's 30th birthday.
Music on the night was provided by Alan Louth, Mary Duff, Andrew Cassidy, Vincent Finnegan, and other local acts.
Mairead McGuinness MEP gave a fine talk the importance of the European Parliament before Paddy took to the stage with an upbeat speech covering his record on the council for the last five years and his plans for the next five, should he be elected.
"The Paddy Meade's Song", written by Slane artist Alan Louth also features a video, starring Paddy himself as a road fixing hero.
The Idea came about when Paddy went seeking a Local Improvement Scheme grant for the road that singer Alan Louth lived on.
"It had got to a stage where locals couldn’t drive on the road and had to park at the end of it," Paddy recalls.
The song was produced by Colin Scallan from Stackallen and features Alan on vocals and guitar.
The music video was produced by Aidan Farrelly of BadAppleFilims. The video, staring Alan and Paddy was recorded in Coalpits and Rathmaiden, Slane, along roads that have been fixed in recent years.
