Local Elections take place on 24th May

78 candidates chasing 40 council seats in upcoming elections

Meath County Council has received 78 nominations for election to the six Municipal Districts in forthcoming Local Elections.

The elections (both local and European) are being held on Friday May 24th with Navan the most hotly contested with 16 candidates fighting for seven seats followed by Laytown/Bettystown with 15 candidates chasing 7 seats. The 2019 total is down sliightly from the 2014 poll when 84 candidates put themselves before the electorate for the 40 availabe seats on Meath County Council.

Kells -  13 (7 seats)

Laytown/Bettystown – 15 (7 seats)

Navan – 16 (7 seats)

Ratoath – 11 (7 seats)

Trim – 11 (6 seats)

The final Notice of Poll will be confirmed on Tuesday afternoon as candidates may withdraw their nomination up to 12.00 on Tuesday 7th May.
