Grenades and €2.5m worth of cannabis seized in Meath

Gardai seized Cannabis Herb (subject to analysis) with an estimated street value of €2.5million together with two hand grenades during an intelligence led search of a property in Gormanston, earlier today.

During the course of the search Gardaí from Ashbourne and the Ballymun Garda Drugs Unit Cannabis Herb (subject to analysis) with an estimated street value of €2.5million was seized together with two (2) hand grenades. The Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal team (EOD) were called to the scene and have made the devices safe.

One male was arrested at the location and is currently detained at Ashbourne Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 – Drug Trafficking Act 1996.

Investigations are continuing.
