All too easy for Meath as Lilies wilt

Jack Regan's rich run of scoring form continued at Newbridge this afternoon as his 16-point return inspired Meath to an easier than expected 2-27 to 1-13 victory over defending champions Kildare in the Christy Ring Cup.

This win, coupled with Roscommon's success in London, ensures that Meath are now assured of their place in the last four of the Ring Cup and the outcome from today's game was never in doubt.

Such a landslide victory looked unlikely after seven minutes as Kildare stuck with Meath and the teams were tied 0-3 each, but a brilliant goal from Eamon O Donnachadha put Meath in the driving seat and he added a fine second four minutes before the break to give the Royals a 2-10 to 1-7 interval cushion.

After the resumption Regan continued to punish Kildare's indiscipline and the result was never in doubt as Nick Fitzgerald's men turned the screw and rammed home their superiority.
