Trim Celtic advance despite Brophy's dismissal
Ten-man Trim Celtic left it late to book their place in second round of the NEFL Challenge Cup as they twice came from behind to beat Newtown Utd by 4-2 at Tully Park on Tuesday night.
The visitors took the lead midway through the first-half but Celtic got back on level terms through an own goal.
Early in the second-half Newtown took the lead again and things went from bad to worse for the Trim side when Paddy Brophy was dismissed.
Alan Murphy’s substitutes came up trumps again as Aaron Williams won a penalty which Dean Courtney converted to level the game.
With five minutes left Cillien Corcoran scored for the fourth game running converting from close range before Williams and Courtney combined again to win and convert a second penalty to finish the scoring with the last kick of the game.
