Status Yellow Rainfall warning in effect with heavy showers expected for rest of the week
A Status Yellow Rainfall warning remains in place for Meath tonight along with Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan and Monaghan with Met Eireann forecasting a wet week ahead.
Between 30 to 35 mm is expected to fall overnight and spot flooding in places is likely.
The persistent, and at times heavy, rain will continue especially over northern areas tonight. Clearer weather with showers developing in the south and some dry spells too. Lowest temperatures 6 or 8 C., in light to moderate northwest breezes.
Over the far north tomorrow the rain will slowly ease. Elsewhere, showers, but some bright or sunny spells also. A few showers heavy. Top temperatures 11 to 14 C., in moderate northwest breezes.
The national outlook for the week ahead shows some bright or sunny spells most days, but very showery overall.
Wednesday will see clear spells, but some showers in places too, a few heavy. Cool, lowest temperatures 4 to 7 C.
Thursday will be a bright, fresh day, with sunny spells and showers. The showers are likely to be heaviest and most frequent over south Munster, south Leinster and also in the northwest of the country, with a risk of some hail and thundery downpours.
Friday will be another showery day in store, but some bright or short sunny spells also. Some of the showers will turn heavy, with a few thundery downpours likely at times too. Top temperatures 14 to 17 C., in light to moderate southwest to west or variable breezes.
Overall it promises to be a fresh and rather cool weekend, with showers set to develop each day, some of them heavy. But some bright or sunny spells also. Top temperatures in the low to mid teens at best.
