Trim drama auditioning for 'Sharon's Grave' this week

Trim Drama Group is holding open auditions for its autumn production, 'Sharon’s Grave' by John B Keane, at 8pm on Monday 24th  and Thursday 27th June, upstairs in McCormacks Bar, Castle Street, Trim. 

Sharon’s Grave, which will be directed by Kevin Shelly, is a powerful story about the struggle between the forces of good and evil. Set in the1930s,  in the rugged Atlantic coast, the play is a tale of family and land, love and hate, with the legend and mythology of Princess Sharon also part of the fascinating story.

As Donal Conlee lays on his deathbed, his daughter Trassie and son Neelus are being hounded by Donal’s depraved and ruthless nephew Dinzie, keen to evict his cousins and get the land. Dinzie’s brother Jack is an unwilling accomplice. The arrival of a travelling thatcher Peadar Minogue opens the play, while Pats Bo Bwee, the man of the cures, arrives after Donal’s passing.

The total cast required is 14. Trassie, Neelus, Dinzie, Jack and Peadar (one female, four male) are all in the 25 to 35 year bracket. Donal, Trassie’s father and Pats Bo Wee are older men. The cast also includes another seven female parts, who form part of the bizarre wake scene for Donal Conlee.
The play will be directed by Kevin Shelly, who has previously directed a number of plays for Trim Drama Group including The Field, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Plough and The Stars, The Cripple of Inishmaan and The Weir.
