Hinterland House Band with some famous names
Singer/songwriter Oisin Leech of The Lost Brothers, his sister, singer/songwriter Saramai Leech of Pearly and poet Peter Fallon of, well, Peter Fallon first performed together at the Hay Festival in Kells and have since been invited to return each year to the Hinterland Festival. Now, as The Hinterland House Band, they prepare to release their first CD. One Afternoon in May presents their singular blend of poems read by Peter and sometimes sung by Saramai and Oisin with songs by Oisin and Saramai. Steve Wickham of The Waterboys guests on one track. Oisin and Saramai's gorgeous harmonies enhance the one cover, 'Dear Someone' by Gillian Welch. Other highlights include Saramai's 'Driving Song' and the bonus track, Oisin's 'Before I'll Be Looking Back' recorded for and broadcast on Radio One's Arena.
Oisin and Saramai are from Navan where Oisin still lives with his family. Peter, who grew up in Carnaross, has lived in Loughcrew since his college days.
The CD will be launched at Oisin, Saramai and Peter's intimate evening of songs, readings and conversation at the Hinterland Festival. Friday June 28th, at 7pm, in the Church of Ireland, Kells.
