The Danes are coming! JYSK set to open in Navan this month

“Scandanavian sleeping and living” is what's promised by JYSK, the Danish home retail brand, when it opens in Navan later this month.
Roni Toumenin, head of retail at the international chain of stores, retail operations manager, Karen Ostergaard, and sales and marketing manager, Jenny Johnston, visited Slane to announce details of the opening of its two north east stores – Drogheda, and later in July, Navan.

The Drogheda store has just opened in the Donore Road business park, while Navan will see its store open in Navan Retail Park on Thursday 25th July.
Founded in Denmark in 1979 by Lars Larsen, JYSK’s Scandinavian design ethic and stylish approach to interiors has made the brand known across the world. Over the past four decades, JYSK has expanded to 51 countries, with more than 2,800 stores worldwide employing 23,000 people.
Roni Toumenin explained that JYSK will never have a huge mega-store, but prefers to have smaller style stores across a country.

“We want to be close to the customer, for an easy shopping experience,” he said. He pointed out that in some countries, towns they operate in have just populations of around 10,000. Drogheda and Navan were in their plans from early on their arrival in Ireland, he added. 
Their concept is of a small store of 1,000 to 1,500 square metres “to be closer to the customer”.
“Our aim is to open 15 stores in two years, and we are already ahead of schedule,” he says, adding that they may open three more, and maybe even a fourth and fifth store, in July and August.
“We want to be able to brand every room in your house!”
Unveiled as manager of the Navan store was Enda Walsh from Ballivor, who has a background in supermarket and toy store retail, and is looking forward to the challenge of establishing the new home store in Navan. He commenced working for JYSK Ireland last November, and and spent time doing introduction training in JYSK UK & JYSK Denmark. He was working in the Naas store pre-opening and up until last month when he moved into Navan to supervise the construction and build-up phase.
Jenny Johnston explained that when Lars Larsen founded JYSK, he wanted to give customers a great offering of high quality product that was “on trend and inexpensive”.
The interiors range at JYSK includes of-the-moment trends, such as homewares in pastel tones and rugs in various colourways and textures, as well as classic Nordic design pieces such as end tables and dining tables in wild oak. JYSK also enjoys a worldwide reputation for expertise and knowledge in sleeping culture, and offers everything from mattresses to frames and bases.
At the launch in the Conyngham Arms Hotel in Slane, homeware and table decor from JYSK were in use and on display.
