Meath beat Wicklow in Ladies All-Ireland IFC at Ashbourne
Meath recorded a comprehensive 4-19 to 0-10 Ladies All-Ireland IFC victory over Wicklow at Ashbourne this afternoon.
Meath were ahead by 2-13 to 0-3 at the interval and despite playing against a strpng second-half wind were always comfortable although they misssed some good chances.
However, the result was all that mattered as the Royal County lost out to Tipperary last weekend and needed to win this game today.
The victory was expected as Meath had beaten Wicklow in the Leinster semi-final before losing out to Wexford in the provincial decider and then there was that defeat last week as well.
Bridgetta Lynch and Kelsey Nesbitt got the first-half goals for Meath while substitutes Fiona O'Neill and Emma White found the net in the second-half. Vikki Wall scored nine points.
Megan Thynne played the full game and is expected to line out with the camogie team at 5pm here in Ashbourne against Tipperary - but that is not confirmed at the moment.
Meath - M McGuirk; K Newe, S Powderly, O Duff; A Cleary, S Ennis, M Thynne; M O’Shaughnessy, K Byrne; O Lally, E Duggan, O Byrne; B Lynch, K Nesbitt, V Wall. Subs - A Moffatt for Lally, E White for Duggan, F O'Neill for Lynch, S Melia for Ennis, A Leahy for Byrne.
