The free-admission event will feature well known consumer affairs broadcaster Conor Pope who will advise visitors how they can spend less and ‘save themselves from the scourge of shocking customer service’. Conor will also reveal many of the tricks of the trade supermarkets employ to entice customers to spend more than they intended.

Visitors will also be able to avail of free health checks and screenings from Galway Clinic, Galway. These will include blood pressure monitoring, and Body Mass Index measuring.

Mary O’Rourke, who wrote the best-selling autobiography there is something about Mary, will talk about her life in politics and her recent successes as an author.

International coin, medal and stamp expert Mike Kelly will be on hand to value items, as well as banknotes. Mike, who has written a best-selling book on these disciplines, will offer free valuations. Coin and stamp expert Mike Kelly will be giving free valuations. Said Mike: ‘The last time Id did valuations in Galway, one visitor brought in stamps which I valued at 5,000 Euro!’

Other attractions will be free health screenings and talks, arts and crafts workshops, and cookery demonstrations.

The event , which has been running all over Ireland for more than 20 years, features a mix of displays, presentations and demonstrations, covering many of the interests of the over 50s such as finance, health, travel, fashions, homes and gardens, security and legal issues.

Because most older people have the time and the resources to take a number of breaks throughout the year, the event will feature hotels and hotel groups from all over Ireland, offering special breaks, as well as information on foreign vacations specially designed for seniors.
