Galway record for Kilmessan trainer Matthew Smith

Kilmessan trainer Matthew Smith set a new record at Galway yesterday with his third winner of the week at the seven-day Festival.

Three winners in a week at Galway is a fine achievement, but the unique element is added by the fact that all the wins were by the same horse - One Cool Poet - which won on Tuesday, again on Thursday and yesterday with jockey Billy Lee on board each time. 

"I'm shocked and it is dream stuff for me, he (One Cool Poet) has been up and down to the yard all week and was out in the field on Wednesday, had a hack on Thursday morning, same on Friday and then today," stated the trainer in a post-race interview.
