Hundreds seek out new horizons at Meath Careers Expo
From the young to the not-so-young, people turned up in big numbers at the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan today for the County Meath Careers Expo 2019.
There were those looking to land their first job, some to change careers and others who were simply eager to get back into the workplace after a spell unemployed.
Organised by the Meath Chamber of Commerce the Expo sought to highlight the range of opportunities there's available in the Royal County - and judging by the large number of people who showed up it was a big success.
Among those in attendance was the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection Regina Doherty who was one of those who were first in the door when they Expo kicked off at 2pm this afternoon (Wednesday) and ran until 8pm this evening.
The Minister said the Expo highlighted the kind of enterprise and entrepreneurial flair that was in the county - and presented people with a valuable opportunity.
"We have over 40 people inside with different employment opportunities in a county that's thriving yet we still have 25,000 people and more leaving our county every single day so these are really good and valuable events to give people an opportunity to be able to work, live and play in the county we love, which is Meath," the Minister told the Meath Chronicle.
She talked about how there were "tonnes" of jobs available in Meath giving people the chance to avoid the daily commute and enjoy a "better quality of life."
Among those in attendance included the Minster for European Affairs Helen McEntee as well as many of the leading figures in business in the county.
