A young Hallowe'en trick or treater got more than she bargained for when she arrived home to find a remote control among her bag of goodies
Switched on mum Regina Farrelly was straight onto social media to try and find the rightful owner of the Now TV remote in Navan, Co. Meath
"My seven-year old daughter Mollie came home with her bag of treats on Hallowe'en night and when my husband looked through it, he was very surprised to see a remote control so I thought I'd try and track down the owner in case they were missing it," said Regina.
One person on social media reckoned the owner would be tearing up the house in search of it while another advised to 'drive around the estate and turn the volume button up!'
Regina's post prompted others to regale their tales of odd things their children received when out trick or treating on Hallowe'en night.
"We thought we were bad, getting chocolate covered Brussel Sprouts over here in Duleek," said one mum, while another said their son got a used teabag in another part of Meath
"One of mine came home with a chicken stock cube," added another.
Alls well that ends well though as the owner of the remote has been found and the remote was returned a few days ago.
"We dropped it back to the owner on Monday. He had opened the door with the remote control and grabbed a few sweets and the whole lot went into the bag by accident. He was delighted to get it back and saw the funny side," said Regina.
