Robinson kicks off reign with victory over Dubs
Former Middlesbrough player Ger Robinson kick-started his term as manager of the Meath u-20s with a 2-13 to 2-11 victory over Dublin in the Leinster FL at Dunganny today.
The Dunboyneman, who had a four-year spell with the English club that ended in 2001 before returninig home to play League of Ireland soccer and later resume his GAA career, only took over as Meath manager last month and he could not have asked for a better start.
Not that his team didn't experience their share of difficulties against a talented Dublin side. They trailed 1-4 to 2-8 at the interval with Jordan Morris getting the goal for the home side. Ciaran McKeown and Ciaran Murphy netted for Dublin.
Dublin completely changed their team for the second-half and this gave Meath their chance. The Royals took firm control and with Dylan Keating getting a late goal in the dying minutes they completed a rousing comeback to win.
The impressive Morris was Meath's main marksman with 1-3 while Aaron Lynch hit four points with Luke Mitchell coming on to bag three points. Cian Rogers, Michael Gavin and Daithi McGowan were others to point for the Royal County.
