ELECTION 2020: Hoey to run for Labour in Meath East
The Labour Party has selected Cllr Annie Hoey to run as its candidate for the General Election in Meath East. Ms Hoey was elected to Meath County Council in 2019 and is a former president of the Union of Students of Ireland.
Cllr Hoey said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be chosen to represent the people of Meath East for the Labour Party in the upcoming General Election.
“This campaign is about the fight for our future. The main issues I will be focussing on over the next few weeks include commuting, affordable homes, homes and taking genuine steps towards building an equal society for all our citizens.
“We want to end the crippling housing crisis that faces our generation.
“The Labour Party has a plan to build the social and affordable homes that this Government has failed to deliver.
“A huge number of people in Meath East commute daily and we need to improve our public transport services to reduce the amount of unnecessary time spent in cars every day.
“After a really positive local election campaign last May, I’m really looking forward to engaging once more with our community on the issues that really matter to them."
