ELECTION 2020: Social Democrats leader supports Moore in Meath West canvas
Catherine Murphy, TD, and co-leader of the Social Democrats visited Enfield and Trim today on the campaign trail with Meath West General Election candidate, Cllr Ronan Moore.
Moore said: "I was delighted to welcome Catherine again to Trim, following her visit last year. We are lucky to have wonderful support in the town for my campaign and it was great to share the Social Democrats vision with so many today.
"I joined Enfield Development Group when I got elected in the locals last year. Today I was glad to introduce Catherine to this wonderful group of volunteers who are working tirelessly to bring about community facilities for Enfield.
"We also discussed the underfunding and under-resourcing of towns like Enfield, which are starved of community services. Meath has been one of the fastest-growing counties and is now very much seen as a commuter suburb of Dublin. In the period 1996 – 2016 Meath saw the highest population growth in the entire country, yet the services have just not kept pace. As a result, we have an issue with garda numbers, a serious lack of school places to serve the numbers of young families who have made Meath their home and inadequate public transport to serve the county’s commuting needs. We need equality of resources no matter where you live."
