Darren dazzles at Chelmsford for Cromwell
There was a worthwhile return to the UK today for the Gavin Cromwell-trained Dazzling Derren which won the opener at Chelmsford City.
This was Cromwell's first runner at the Essex track, but for Dazzling Darren it was like a trip home as the three-year-old only arrived at the Danestown (Navan) stables of the trainer in December.
Purchased by the trainer for around €5,500 at the Ascot December sales, Dazzling Darren had run seven times since making a 10th of 10 debut on the track at Lingfield last August.
The best in seven outings was third over a mile and half a furlong at Wolverhampton in November.
Today's race was over a mile and two and Dazzling Darren certainly stayed on well to get that first win and shorten the journey home.
