March kick-off for NEFL 2020

The North Eeast Football League annual meeting last Sunday evening was a quiet affair with all the officials unanimously returned for another term.

Significantly, no new nominations for a place on the committee were received.

The following were re-elected - David Tully, John Gorman, Gerry Gorman, Declan Jordan, Tommy Melia, Damien Smith, Derek Coogan, Steve Laverty, Eugene Lynch, Danny Doyle, Stephen McCabe, Mark McGuinness, Damien Clarke, Brian McCreary.

The new season will kick-off on Sunday 8th March with games in the Kilmessan Shield and the O'Neill Shield competitions.

There will be a mid-season break for the first two weeks of August although that could extend to three weeks.

A decision will be announced at the formation meeting.

The closing date for applications for the 2020 season is Monday 17th February.

Paddy Mulreid from the Women's League outlined the progress made since the development tournament started last October with eight teams.

A new women's league is set to start on Monday 23rd March with nine teams already confirmed and the possibility of another three teams affiliating ahead of the scheduled start date.
