Coscoran in good company
Andrew Coscosan took his place at the start line for the prestigious Wannamaker mile at the Armory Track & Field Centre in New York
The Star of the Sea athlete produced another stunning sub-four minute performance to take 10th place in a blanket finish.
Coscoran's splits for the first 400m and 800m in New York were 0.3secs slower at both points than his mile run in Boston a fortnight earlier.
However, unlike the race in Boston, where the pace dipped in the third quarter, the Wannamaker Mile pace was relentless as they ground out another sub-60 secondc 400m.
Coscoran went through 1,200m in 3:00.43 and this extra pace took some of the kick out of his legs even though he still finished with a 57.69 final 400m to get a 3:57.83 finishing time, just 2.2 seconds behind the winner Chris O’Hare (Great Britain).
Coscoran can now look forward to the Irish Championships in the National Indoor Arena in a fortnight and a chance to re-write the result from last July at the National 1,500m.
