Auditions took place for Extras roles in Dublin today

Anxious Extras now wait on the call to star in Hollywood blockbuster

Hundreds of silver screen hopefuls will now have anxious wait to see if they get the call that will see them get to star alongside movie legends Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Jodie Comer in a Hollywood blockbuster - part of which will be shot in Meath.

The open casting session for the Ridley Scott directed 'The Last Duel' at Dublin's Liberty Hall theatre attracted massive crowds that snaked around the iconic Dublin landmark for most of the day.

Dunderry man Ian O'Brien who took his place in the Extras line and said the whole 'audition' was over in one take. 

"It was a very long queue but it moved very quickly. Once we got inside, we filled out a form with all our details, skills, dimensions etc, got our photo taken and away out the door. They are going to start ringing the selected people on the 1st of March."

Another hopeful was Aoife McDonnell from Trim. The student who said she had never been on TV before but was taking a chance to see if she could get on the set of 'The Last Duel' was "very exciting"

is an epic period feature film soon to be shot in various parts of Ireland over the coming months. It will be directed by Ridley Scott and will star Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer.

As well as providing work for a huge cast of extras, the film is expected to provide a substantial tourism boost for Bective in the coming years.

It will attract a lot of tourism to the area," says Michele Whelan of Meath Tourism, "It will provide a boost to the area. People are still attracted to where Braveheart has been filmed," she said. ‘The Last Duel’
