Search is on for GAA club that best promotes Irish

RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta has launched a competition to find the GAA Club that best promotes and encourages the use of the Irish language from across the 32 counties, with a live broadcast and a big family fun day for the club community as the winning prize.
Does your local GAA club actively try to promote the language, how so?  Is it visible in signage and at club events?  Is there an Irish-Language Officer?  Is Irish spoken at matches and other club occasions? Are you registered with the Joe McDonagh Foundation?   Would you like a chance to showcase this work on the national airwaves?   If so, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta would like to hear from you.
To apply, send a 500 word description of the club’s work to promote Irish and tell us why we should come to visit your club, as well as a short video as Gaeilge (2/3 minutes), to comortas@rte.ie .  The closing date is 20 March.
RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will come to the winning club on Saturday 18 April to broadcast their Saturday sports programme Spórt an tSathairn live from there.   As part of that, they will be organising a big family fun day, to include a barbecue, children’s games, poc fada competition,  skills training with well-known GAA stars, and the Sam Maguire cup will be there with plenty of photo opportunities!
The competition is being supported by the GAA and the Joe McDonagh Foundation .  Clubs who have applied for the Joe McDonagh Foundation gold, silver or bronze medals will be awarded an extra target for applying for the competition.
The Joe McDonagh Foundation – Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha – is a support service provided by Glór na nGael and the GAA to clubs wishing to further the Irish Language in their community.
Entries or queries should be sent to comortas@rte.ie .  Closing date is 20 March, and a panel of judges will decide the winning club, which will be announced at the start of April.
Further information, rules and instructions on the competition are available at www.rte.ie/rnag/
