Death of Margot Davis
The death occurred yesterday evening of Margot Davis, formerly of the Meath Chronicle and Modern Woman newspapers.
Margot, wife of former Meath Chronicle managing director, Jack Davis, was aged 81 and died at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. She had been in poor health for some time.
A member of the Kiernan family of Kells, she was well-known in amateur dramatics and musical societies there, and as editor of Meath Chronicle publication, the Modern Woman, brought a certain glitz and glamour to charity fashion shows and events which she organised.
She is best known for her association with Navan Meath Health Association, of which she was a founder.
In 2009, she published her memoir, ‘All In A Lifetime’.
Daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Kiernan, Margot was predeceased by her daughter, Sarah Jane in 2010, and she is survived by her husband, Jack; family, John, Paul, Georgina, Eddie, and Marguerite; sisters, extended family, relatives and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended from all at Meath Chronicle.
A private family funeral will take place, with a celebration of Margot’s life at a later stage.
