Death of Fr Phonsie Mackin of Bohermeen

The death has occurred of the retired parish priest of Bohermeen, Fr  Phonsie Mackin. The Kingscourt native served the Diocese of Meath as priest since his ordination in 1954 in the various parishes, only retiring recently from the parish of Bohermeen, which he had served since 1982. He was dearly loved by the people of that parish and here in his own native place of Kingscourt, where he kept great connections and deep friendships throughout his life. He served as Diocesan Director of the Meath Lourdes Pilgrimage and was created a Canon of Lourdes.
