Death of former county council chairperson, Ann Dillon-Gallagher
The death occurred last night of former Meath county councillor, Ann Dillon-Gallagher, who was the first female Fine Gael cathaoirleach of Meath County Council.
From Loughbracken, Drumconrath, she served as a councillor for the Slane electoral area from 1999 until 2014. She was county council chairperson from 2010 to 2011.
Very active in local development and community services prior to her election, Ann was a former chairperson of Drumconrath Community Group and was closely involved in the Community Games, women’s organisations and charity fundraising.
She had been in ill health in recent years, and died peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
She was predeceased in 2017 by her daughter, Eleanor, and is survived by her husband, Michael, their family, Susan, Catherine, Bernie and Edward; grandchildren, Ellen, Chloe , Lauren, Katie, Grace, Ben and Will, sister Marie, brothers Pat and Tom, extended family, and friends.
