Meath ease to victory against Leitrim

Meath proved too strong for Leitrim in the Ladies All-Ireland IFC at Mullahoran today where they recorded a 5-18 to 0-10 victory.

Meath were ahead by 3-10 to 0-4 at the interval with goals from Bridgetta Lynch (two) and Stacey grimes boosting the Royal County to that substantial 15-point advantage.

Wind-assisted Meath dominated the opening half and had thre points each from Emma Duggan, Grimes and Niamh O'Sullivan with Lynch also sending over.

Leitrim were on the mark through Michelle Guckian (three) and Vivienne Egan.

Meath continued in the ascendancy after the resumption and further goals followed from Megan Thynne, who had played camogie for Meath on Saturday, and Grimes eased them into a 5-16 to 0-6 advantage at the second water break.

The Meath women remained in control when the action resumed and were comfortable winners.

Meath's second-half points were added by a brace each from Duggan and Grimes with Marie O'Shaughnessy, Vikki Wall, Thynne and Kate Byrne.

Battling Leitrim kept going throughout and added points from Guckian and Muireann Devaney (two each), Leah Fox and Laura O'Dowd.
