Harding elected Chairperson of LMETB
Cllr Wayne Harding has said he is proud, delighted and honoured to have been elected to the position of Chairperson of The LMETB (Louth/Meath Education and Training Board. )
"I want to thank all my colleagues for their support. I will work throughout my year for all our students that span every section of education," he said.
LMETB manages 18 Post Primary schools, as well as Primary schools and is also responsible for an extensive range of Adult Services throughout both counties, including Adult Learning Services, Community Education, Back to Education Initiative, VTOS, Youthreach and Adult Guidance.
Since July 1st 2014 Dundalk Regional Skills & Training Centre is under the governance of LMETB, having been transferred from SOLAS on that date. LMETB is also patron to 6 Community Schools.
Cllr Harding added: “One of the most exciting additions to LMETB will be the advanced manufacturing skills campus in Dundalk. This initiative has been driven by our CEO Martin O Brien and I want to compliment him on his vision. The project has already received €4.5 m from the Border Enterprise Development Fund.
"This centre will upskill trainees in, Robotics, Cobotics and Additive Manufacturing-3D Printing. Martin and his team strategically placed this centre on the Dublin, Belfast economic corridor to prepare the region to combat Brexit and take maximum advantage as we emerge from Covid 19”.
“I would like to pay tribute to our outgoing Chair, Cllr Nick Killian. I have big boots to fill as Nick has worked tirelessly throughout his tenure. But I have every intention of working as hard as I can to match the passion of the over 2500 staff committed to delivering excellence in education in both Louth and Meath."
