Prosper Meath prepares to open stunning new Navan day centre for adults with an intellectual disability on Watergate Street

Prosper Meath will celebrate the official opening of its new day centre for adults with an intellectual disability on Watergate Street in Navan on Thursday (17th December) at 5pm.

The new centre represents the first purpose-built Prosper Meath facility in the county.

In line with government health guidelines, the virtual event will be live-streamed through the Prosper Meath Facebook Page and website at prospermeath.ie/watergatestreetopening , making this exciting event accessible to all.

"It brings a sense of pride and celebration to the community in what has been a difficult year for people with disabilities and their carers."

Designed by McKevitt King Architects, winner of the RIAI Public Choice Award 2020 and built by the local building firm C.F Hoey Construction, the benefits of this new centre will be long standing, serving many generations of people to come.

Prosper Meath is to receive a donation from Facebook to facilitate a technology upgrade to all of its nine centres across the county. The donation will transform Prosper Meath services, enabling them to invest in accessible whiteboard screens, digital media equipment and interactive touch screen devices for each centre.

Prosper Meath has built a strong relationship with Facebook who have been part of the Meath community since 2016 when they broke ground on the Clonee Data Centre. Together, they have worked closely on a number of projects, including the Prosper Community Sensory Garden in Trim.

This grant will make Prosper Meath’s programming more accessible, support the ongoing personal development of all service users and enable staff and service users alike to communicate seamlessly. Together.”

Prosper Meath provides services in Kells, Ashbourne, Trim and Navan. Over 500 individuals and their families benefit from this very dynamic organisation. Dr Mary Murpy, Chairman of Prosper’s Board of Directors said: “The opening of Watergate Street will provide the service with a bright, spacious, tailor-made facility which will be to the benefit of both service users and staff.
