LMETB awarded patronage of new Dunshaughlin secondary school
Total of 302 local parents voted in the patronage survey
EU Affairs Minister and Meath East TD Thomas Byrne has confirmed that Louth Meath Education Training Board (LMETB) has been successful in its bid to secure patronage of the new 600 student secondary school in Dunshaughlin.
“I have been informed by the Minister for Education that LMETB have been awarded the patronage of the new 600 pupil post primary school in Dunshaughlin," he said this morning.
"LMETB received the highest number of valid first preference votes of 167 through the recent survey of parents. In total 302 local parents voted in the patronage survey. Along with LMETC there were two other potential patrons - educational patron, CEIST, and An Foras Pátrúnachta, the patron of Irish-medium schools in Ireland.
“The New Schools Establishment Group, a special team within the Department of Education concluded that based on the results of the parental preferences and broader analysis, including the extent of diversity currently available in this and the adjoining school planning areas, the analysis indicates that the patronage of the new post-primary school for the Dunshaughlin school planning area should be awarded to Louth and Meath Education and Training Board to provide a multi-denominational Community College with English as the language of instruction.
“This new school in Dunshaughlin will be developed in 2021” concluded Minister Byrne.
