June - Navan boxer Christopher Blaney (‘The Ginger Ninja’) added another win to his impressive tally since turning professional when he delivered a victory at the National Stadium in Dublin.
Blaney was in action at the Red Corner ‘For Honour and Pride’ card against a well-regarded opponent in Darryl Sharp and he pushed Blaney all the way.
April - Meath man Christopher Blaney produced another big performance in his first scheduled six-rounder as he opened the action on a winning note in the Leicester Arena on a massive card for the BT Sport ‘City of Champions’ bill against Christian Hoskin Gomez.
He also created a little bit of history in the process - Blaney was the first Irish boxer to feature on a card as part of the groundbreaking BoxNation-BT Sport deal,
Blaney was stepping up to six rounds and also facing a tough opponent in Spanish boxer Christian Hoskin Gomez on the Tommy Langford v Avtandil Khurtsidze undercard at the Leicester venue.
The Spaniard had previously held Dublin boxer Ciaran Mullen to a draw, but Meath man Blaney was up to the task last night and claimed a points victory over the six fiercely contested rounds.
2012
June - It was a case of seconds out for Navan Boxing Club as they hosted a very successful end-of-season tournament in Navan O'Mahonys clubhouse.
The main opposition to the host club's boxers was provided by a contingent from Cambridge Boxing Club in England.
Christopher Blaney out-pointed Wesley Clarke (Cambridge) at senior 75kg.
2011
December - Christopher Blaney was a monthly winner for December in the 2011 Meath Sports Awards.
The Navan Boxing Club member won his 10th national title when he defeated Bernard Roe (Dublin Docklands) in the 75kg category at the National Intermediate Championships. Blaney won the final bout with a convincing 18-9 score.
October - Navan boxer Chris Blaney qualified for the final of under-21 National Boxing Championships.
Blaney, who played for Wolfe Tones in this year's SFC, defeated Bernard Roe of Dublin Docklands boxing club in the semi-final.
At the end of the first round the score was 2-2, but by the end of the second round it was 7-4 in favour of Blaney.
The Meath man took the third and final round by 5-4 with the final score 12-8 in his favour.
He will meet Conrad Cummings of the Holy Trinity Club, Belfast in the final.
2010
September - Christopher Blaney produced the right performances to win gold in the Vojvodina Golden Gloves Youth Multi-Nations boxing tournament in Novi Sad, Serbia.
The Navan Boxing Club member was one of only two Irish boxers who claimed gold and he also won the coveted 'boxer-of-the-tournament' award.
Blaney, who was boxing in the 75kg category, started his march to gold when he defeated French opponent Charles Elcbechir.
That earned the young Meath man a semi-final bout with the Russian Andrey Fgorov.
In the first two rounds Blaney picked up points, but he really turned the heat on in round three eventually stopping the Russian who is a former World Junior Champion.
It was onto the final then for Blaney and it was there he overcame Ferenc Orbanc.
Again this bout didn't go the distance as Blaney stopped his opponent early in the second round.
Blaney, who completed his Leaving Certificate this summer, was one of eight Irish boxers who made their way to Serbia for the tournament.
After his double success in taking gold and the boxer-of-the-tournament award Blaney will now be looking to make an impact in the forthcoming national u-21 championships at the National Stadium.
Irish team manager Paul McMahon said that the management were delighted with the medal haul from Serbia and praised the efforts of all the boxers who made it to the finals and semi-finals.
Blaney is no stranger to success on the international front as he took gold in the 69kg category in a tournament in Germany earlier this year.
2009
January - Christopher Blaney was one of three nominees for the Meath Young Sportsperson of the Year award.
