Big winner at the Curragh today for Noel Meade

Meade lands Lincoln on opening day of flat

Trainer Noel Meade added another big-race winner to his tally when landing the Irish Lincoln for the first time on the opening day of the flat season at the Curragh today.

The Meade-trained Layfayette was first home for jockey Chris Hayes to land the €54,000 first prize in fine style.

It was a one-two-three for Meath runners with the Ger Lyons-trained Maker Of Kings in second and the Michael Mulvany-trained Comfort Line in third.

Bohermeen man Johnny Murtagh was also on the mark when winning the Madrid Handicap with Amazed By Grace which is owned by his wife Orla.

There were also two Meath-trained winners at Downpatrick today.

Drumbear made a winning debut for John McConnell in the bumper with Ben Harvey on board while Team Foster / Cullentra won the opener with Stranger Danger in a maiden hurdle.
