Kevin McGrath back on track

Bohermeen Athletic Club runner Kevin McGrath is back on track following an impressive run in Manchester on Saturday evening.

The 22-year-old ran 1:50.13 for 800 metres at the BMC Trafford Grand Prix in Manchester on Saturday evening.

The performance was his third best 800metres time and his fastest season's opener.

Only for the packed home straight he would have dipped under 1:50 as the B race contained several top class athletes all seeking championship qualifying times.

McGrath will race again later this month in Belfast and all going well he may eclipse his personal bests.

His target is to run sub 1:50 and achieve a qualifying time (1:49) for the European under-23 championships which take place in Bergen (Norway) from Thursday 8th - Sunday 11th July.
