Ballinabrackey GAA club raise €8,620 in joint-effort with Pieta
During the 2020 lockdown Ballinabrackey GAA club members took part in the Run4Pieta event.
It was a huge success and the club was very proud to be involved.
This year Pieta House got in touch and asked the club to get involved in the Run4Pieta event.
They explained that Pieta was going to split the funds 50:50 with GAA clubs who have struggled over the last year due to Covid-19.
Ballinabrackey joined with Pieta House in this event joining with the club's Walkathon that unfortunately had been cancelled in 2020.
Last Friday at 6pm Ballinabrackey members took to the roads for a 30-minute slot to either run/walk or cycle.
The event ran for 24 hours with some Bracks from abroad and at home braving the middle of the night slots.
"This virtual event was a huge success and everyone felt connected by the photos being posted of each person who took part," commented Ballinabrackey PRO Lisa Kennedy.
"We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who got involved and who donated.
"We raised an amazing €8,620 and this amount will be split with Pieta.
"Due to the wonderful generosity of people it will help save many lives by supporting Pieta House.
"This money will also be used for important developments on the Ballinabrackey GAA grounds.
"It doesn’t surprise me that the people of Ballinabrackey managed to raise so much money.
"They always get involved and support any event that happens and we want to say a huge thank you to them. These events would not be possible without their support," concluded the club PRO.
