Westmeath goals sink the Royals
The concession of three goals proved costly for Meath as they lost out to Westmeath in the National Camogie League Div 2 at Kinnegad today.
Westmeath have strong pacy forwards and they amply demonstrated their skills today tormenting the Meath defence all afternoon and firing home three goals.
Aoife Minogue capped a tour de force performance for Meath with eight points, six frees, while Jane Dolan and Amy Gaffney hit two points apiece for the visitors.
However Meath's inability to work a goal or three proved costly as their their tendency to concede time and space to opposition forwards.
The fact that they also struggled to contain Westmeath livewire Hannah Core was also a big factor.
The outstanding Core hit 2-2 while another of the home team's top performers also found the net for Westmeath who led 2-3 to 0-5 at the interval.
Meath now face Dublin who were surprisingly defeated by Kildare 2-11 to 4-2, a result that throws open the group.
